Regular Consultations

Regular Consultations

Using food to maximize the health and well-being of individuals, our experienced dietitians provide regularly scheduled consultations at peak periods of operations as directed by state licensure regulations. We are trained to determine an individual’s nutrition and hydration needs for diagnosis management and weight management. NCS dietitians consider the whole picture of a resident and their quality of life while upholding regulatory standards, facility expectations, and resident/representative demands.

Meal Monitoring

Review of Menus

Review and sign menus ensuring general nutritional guidelines are met, therapeutic/modified diets are followed, and food allergies, religious, cultural, ethnic and personal preferences are considered.

Educational Materials

Nutrition Education

Provide coaching and assistance monitoring residents’ acceptance of diet and counseling on healthy eating, in general, or for specific diagnosis or need to residents, family or staff onsite or via telehealth.

Food Safety & Sanitation Checks

Food Safety & Sanitation Monitoring

Dietary kitchen audits for sanitation and meal service with real-time coaching and counseling. We check that all food is served at safe and appropriate temperatures. Review food preparation and serving areas are maintained in accordance with federal, state and local sanitation and safe food handling standards.

Challenges

Fiscal Responsibility

We review areas in the kitchen such as purchasing, receiving, production, storage and supplement usage, and provide education to develop comprehensive controls to help maintain fiscal responsibility. In addition, NCS dietitians can help to implement a validated nutrition screening tool that may facilitate a diagnosis of malnutrition by the physician which in turn can also lead to increased reimbursement through the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM).
